Turtle is simple to understand, is human readable and editable in its raw form, and is relatively compact. In order to explain the serialization, the author presents the basics of the RDF data model.

It provides basic knowledge for how data can be published over the Web, how it can be queried, and what are the possible use cases and benefits. The module also includes some multiple choice questions in the form of a quiz, screencasts of popular tools, and embedded videos.

RDF Terms in RDFLib https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/rdf-terms-in-rdflib/ Tue, 03 May 2016 13:01:46 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/rdf-terms-in-rdflib/ This documentation explains that terms are the kinds of objects that can appear in quoted/asserted triples. Those that are part of core RDF concepts are: Blank Node, URI Reference and Literal, the latter consisting of a literal value and either a datatype or a language tag.

Introduction to Semantics in MarkLogic https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/introduction-to-semantics-in-marklogic/ Fri, 15 Apr 2016 23:37:50 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/introduction-to-semantics-in-marklogic/ This is the first chapter in MarkLogic's "Semantic Developer's Guide". It contains information about the RDF data model in general but, more importantly, the chapter details how to store and query RDF in MarkLogic. Unique identifiers and namespaces are also discussed. Also included is a list of terms commonly used in the Semantic Web and Linked Data communities, as well as links to several datasets.

Tracking RDF Graph Provenance using RDF Molecules https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/tracking-rdf-graph-provenance-using-rdf-molecules/ Sun, 17 Jan 2016 13:56:09 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/tracking-rdf-graph-provenance-using-rdf-molecules/ The Semantic Web facilitates the integration of partial knowledge and finding evidence for hypothesis from Web knowledge sources. However, the appropriate level of granularity for tracking provenance of RDF graphs remains in debate. The RDF document level is too coarse because it could contain irrelevant information. On the other hand, the RDF triple level will fail when two triples share the same blank node. Therefore, this paper investigates lossless decomposition of RDF graphs and tracking the provenance of RDF graphs using the "RDF molecule", which is the finest and most lossless component of an RDF graph.

SPARQL FAQs https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/sparql-faqs/ Sat, 16 Jan 2016 13:43:29 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/sparql-faqs/ This set of FAQs was written before SPARQL 1.1, making it obsolete for practical purposes. However, its treatment of topics such as how SPARQL deals with RDF Schema and OWL entailment regimes, sub-queries, and insert, update, and delete operations is informative in the sense that it explains the reasons why the changes made in SPARQL 1.1 were necessary.

Multi-Agent and Semantic Web Systems: RDF Data Structures https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/multi-agent-and-semantic-web-systems-rdf-data-structures/ Fri, 13 Nov 2015 06:00:10 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/multi-agent-and-semantic-web-systems-rdf-data-structures/ This slide presentation of lecture material was used as part of a course given at The University of Edinburgh School of Informatics. This lecture reviews the concepts of resources and HTTP URIs, then discusses literals and datatypes. Discusses "Instance-of" in RDF, the use of blank nodes, and mapping from the relational model to RDF.
