OntoCheck, allows for ontology tests to be carried out on OWL ontologies, aiding in consistency and compliance with ontology naming conventions and metadata completeness, as well as curation in case of found violations. The authors describe a first version of the software, illustrate its capabilities and use within running ontology development efforts and briefly outline improvements resulting from its application.

Semantic Web Tutorial 10/14: RDF Schema and OWL 2/4 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/semantic-web-tutorial-1014-rdf-schema-and-owl-24/ Wed, 30 Sep 2015 22:30:59 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/semantic-web-tutorial-1014-rdf-schema-and-owl-24/ Follows where previous video left off, describing how RDF Schema is itself a vocabulary and how it can be used to define new classes of resources. Discusses how RDF Schema fits into the subject, predicate, object triple pattern and the use of sub-classes. Covered basics of assigning domain and range. One in a series of videos.

Cookbook for Translating Relational Data Models to RDF Schemas https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/cookbook-for-translating-relational-data-models-to-rdf-schemas/ Tue, 15 Sep 2015 02:33:10 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/cookbook-for-translating-relational-data-models-to-rdf-schemas/ This slide presentation provides guidance for a person tasked with translating a Domain Model into an RDF schema. Modelling initiatives usually focus on a Domain Model that shows the classes, properties and relationships as this greatly aids human understanding of the information space. To achieve interoperability between two systems that need to seamlessly exchange data, a conceptual Domain Model needs to be implemented in a machine-readable and –understandable format, such as XML or RDF.

Learn OWL and RDFS https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/learn-owl-and-rdfs/ https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/learn-owl-and-rdfs/#respond Thu, 13 Aug 2015 03:26:20 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/learn-owl-and-rdfs/ This set of lessons is an introduction to OWL and an introduction to RDF Schema (RDFS). OWL and RDFS are key Semantic Web technologies that give one a way to write down rich descriptions of RDF data. The lessons include introductory tutorials suitable to beginners and also an OWL reference for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Designing and Developing Vocabularies in RDF https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/designing-and-developing-vocabularies-in-rdf/ https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/designing-and-developing-vocabularies-in-rdf/#respond Thu, 13 Aug 2015 03:26:17 +0000 https://ld4pe.dublincore.org/learning_resource/designing-and-developing-vocabularies-in-rdf/ This slide presentation aims to help the user answer the following questions: What are the best practices or creating an RDF vocabulary for modelling data; Where does one find RDF vocabularies for reuse; How can one create an RDF vocabulary; How does one create new classes and properties in RDF; How does one publish an RDF vocabulary? To meet this goal, the process and methodology for developing semantic agreements developed by the ISA Programme of the European Commission is discussed. Prompts for group exercises are included.
