The Provenance Ontology supports data management and auditing tasks. It is used by the BBC to define the different types of named graphs used in the quad store and enables their association with metadata which allows them to manage, validate and expose data to their services. A named graph is, in effect, a "fourth part" to a triple, hence the term "quad store".
