In 2010, Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Professor Nigel Shadbolt unveiled data.gov.uk, which now provides a single point of access to many thousands of government datasets. In this presentation, Professor Shadbolt looks at why public data consumption works, what open public data can do for transparency, and how it can generate real economic returns. Professor Shadbolt also discusses the achievements of data.gov.uk and how it is being emulated and copied around the world. He provides his view on why this Open Government Data "revolution" could be as important as any we have seen in the Web era.
